:) we wake up on Sunday morning before baby girl is awake. What is up with that??!! Not that we awoke at dark-thirty either. Emily normally wakes up at 6:00-6:30. At 7:15 we wake up and look at each other and say to each other... "huh... no chirpy giggly sounds coming down the hall from Emily's room."
So we go down the hall and peak into her room, and there is Emily still stacking zzzzz's! Amazing... we actually got to sleep in!! [ Yes, 7:15 these days was a wonderful treat for us :) ] So while we are admiring our good fortune, and whispering about it together, Emily wiggles, rolls over, opens her eyes, and gives us that big little smile and cooo that we so love to see and hear.
Hehe.. just wanted to share that one with ya before moving along.
Anyway... back on track.... the last week has been a really fun week for all three of us. Emily got some new gadgets (she is very much a gadget girl) and just loves 'em because they have buttons, and make lots of interesting noises. Her little Ipod-like music player (shared in last weeks blog update) remains her favorite though and she works buttons at her leisure, skipping songs she does not like, and stopping and listening to those she likes.
Lots of new learnings this week for Emily. She is standing more and more, and in fact loves to stand. She can pull her self up to standing position now using the couch edge in the family room. She loves to stand and look down into the family room downstairs, through the stair bars upstairs. Emily has moved well into finger foods now, but still insists that we feed her. She will play with finger foods and will toss em around, but still won't self-feed.
The big event for the week was her new swing in the patio. We have had it on our list for a few weeks now to get Emily a swing. So this weekend we went down to the local Toys-R-Us and picked one up. As soon as I had it up and installed, we loaded Emily into the swing and started the swinging.
Boy does she love to swing, as evidenced by the little tongue sticking out in this photo. She is so cute, hanging on to the ropes with both hands as Dad swings her back and forth. And if the swing starts to slow down, then she starts to jossle her body back and forth while holding the ropes, trying to get it to move faster again.Soft toys are now a big hit for Emily, not just her gadget toys (like Elmo cell phone, and Muppets electronic key chain). I think I have mentioned before that when we adopted Emily in China she was very ambivalent about soft toys and preferred toys with hard texture and preferably that make noises. Now days, she loves to play with her little collection of soft cuddly toys just as much as harder noisier toys, with a particular fondness it seems for her little girl doll in lavender dress and her little Pooh Bear. So we have a good variety of toy types in play now. I have to admit, the large Rice Krispies box that Dad gave her to play with is still a top favorite though. I should take a photo of it for you, as she has really crushed the poor thing... she like to look at and ponder the front and back of it (it's one of the colorful ones with a story on the back), but seems to really relish flopping on it, or sitting on it. It is totally smushed now :)
Oh....AND... tooth number 4! The second top tooth has sprung over the last week. It seems Emily is growing them in pairs. The bottom front teeth (note I finally got these on photo in the first photo above) grew in almost simultaneously, with the second one quickly catching up as the first one continued to grow in. The same appears to be true now for the top front teeth. We actually saw her put right index finger in mouth and begin to suck on it yesterday as well. That's a first for Emily as she has always shunned putting fingers or thumb in mouth.
Yesterday our Social Worker visited, to complete our updated assessment in preparation for re-adoption here in California. Looks like we should have all our supporting paperwork back from Heartsent in a couple weeks and can then contact the county court to complete the legal documents and get scheduled for the appearance.
That's it for now... stay tuned for more Emily Info next week :)
