Emily Meets The Doctor Today - A Healthy Girl!

Today was Emily's first Dr Visit in the United States.

The Dr reports her vital signs are normal, and that she is healthy, alert, and progressing well in her development. She is tall for her age, and on the slender side of weight for her age as well. Emily of course took time to charm the nurses and the Dr with her fun loving disposition, warm smile and little coos.

That of course came to an abrupt halt when the tongue depressor went into the mouth, and there were a host of tests to run today as well. So Emily quickly learned that anyone in a white coat carrying anything even remotely looking like a needle was to be the subject of immediate crying and protest. She learns fast too, as she made quick and pre-emptive crys and protest at the first sight of the nurse at the lab, where it was time for routine bloodwork.

All in all, I think the visit was harder on her mom and dad then on her. Seeing our little girl cry is never fun, and to see her in any discomfort due to tests and vaccinations is something that was hard for us both to endure. I did not realize the emotional drain of this until after I had driven home and stepped out of the car.

Emily quickly recovered from the days events, had a nice meal and a nap, and seemed to be back to normal by afternoon, pleasant, giggly, and playful again.

Me, well, I'm still a bit drained by it all. But it is good to see and hear the Dr's confirmation that she is in normal health and doing well.

That is why you need to go out and celebrate and have Ice Cream or something good!
