Needless to say, I took a ton of photos as Emily opened presents and later playing with some of her new toys. But I will spare you most of these :) Let me just say that I have a photo of each present being opened by Emily (who now loves tearing wrapping paper off presents), followed by a photo of Emily with each present sans wrapper.
This first photo shows Nancy and Emily in the living room next to the tree, getting ready to open photos......but not until Dad gets all set up and comfortably positioned with his camera.
By the way, all of those presents under the tree are for Emily. Nancy and I opened ours the night before so that Christmas morning is all about Emily. This next photo shows Emily opening her very first presents. Nancy decided that we should start with clothing lest the world think this entire grand pile of presents was all toys :)
Clothing was quickly followed by something else soft, yet cuddly....a cute little stuffed giraffe from her cousin who lives in Las Vegas. Emily loves stuffed toys and the giraffe was a big hit.
Next we move on to more of the toys. Emily received a lot of electronic toys for congnative development from friends and family this year, like the toy phone below that teaches tunes, and ABCs, and counting. These types of toys are a big hit with Emily as she loves music, and is already learning her ABCs (can recognize and say A, B, & C already).
One big hit for Emily was Baby's First Baby, which Emily smiled and said Baby!!
I could go on and on of course, but I think at this point we will cut ahead, where Emily opens her last big present, a giant box of Lego Blocks. As predicted by Dad, these were a big hit.
So as finish up the mornings presents, Emily settles in to play for a bit with some of her new toys while Mom and Dad sort through and decide which presents go to the family room (the play zone), which presents go to Grandpa's house (where Emily stays during the week days while we are at work), and which toys get put away for later in the year.

Wowie Zowie...that's a lot of presents for one little kid!
It looks like Emily's first Christmas at home was a giant hit. She looks so happy and so does Mommy!
Hope the three of you have a great rest of 2006...I can't wait to follow your adventures in 2007!
