Yeah, my lovely daughter has a new tactic to avoid photos. As soon as she catches me with a camera in my hand, she immediately puts her hands up to the sides of her eyes and pretends she has a camera and is going to take my picture. Cheese Daddy! A couple of photos to reference my claim :)
This of course means that I am having to constantly shift tactics if I want situational photos of Emily during the day and particularly if I want to snap a photo of her doing something cute, or just being cute, or perhaps some new cognitive breakthrough. Emily by the way, does actually have a children's digital camera of her own. One of those cute little Fischer Price kid's camera's. One of her aunties bought it for her for her Birthday last month. We have let her try it, but we have not officially unwrapped it and turned her loose with it yet. Given all of her strong cognitive developments, it is time to let her loose with her very own camera though.
Speaking of cognitive breakthroughs (and not caught on camera due to the reasons stated above) Emily is working creatively with colors now. She has not worked out all of her color recognitions by name yet, but she very much demonstrates favorite colors and the ability to differentiate and use colors in a creative way. Emily's favorite colors are blue and green. When playing with her big box of Lego blocks, when she wants to be creative, she will most often pull out the blue and green block and start to lay them out on the couch or floor in color patterns and shapes. Just the other night, she had taken a handful of both blue and green block and sat down on the couch and proceeded to begin to line them up in a line in alternating colors. It was something a dozen blocks or so and they are all perfectly placed side by side with blue alternating with green. Emily will also stack the interlocking blocks in the same manner. But of course I do not yet have a photo of this because as soon as she sees me with the camera, she stops, hops off the couch and proceeds to pretend to take my photo. LOL
We are constantly mixing up the variety of books, and gadgets and even gadget based books for Emily to use or play with. She is getting pretty comfortable with her new desk now and even though it is a wee bit large for her yet, she will stand or sit and read from her desk top (though pulling a book and then climbing up and sitting on one of our laps is still her preferred reading spot).
And her little chair that goes with the desk is something she just loves and she will pick it up and take it to where ever she is going to play, or whatever. Just this week however we now see some chair action in the kitchen where she plants it next to a counter cabinet and proceeds to climb up and peek over the counter top. Oh boy, there is some trouble coming here if we don't watch out :)
And of course there remains the ever popular empty Huggies diaper box. I was lucky enough to actually get a couple photos of Emily and the diaper box making the rounds. I should add that Emily has learned to pick the box up from the side and look through both handle holes and say peek a boo as she looks at your though the holes. :)
In closing this week. Emily is very much a girl that wants to taste or eat whatever we are eating, and especially whatever Nancy is eating. This week, I was lucky enough to catch a photo of Emily mooching some fruit juice popsicle from Nancy. Strawberry too, one of Emily's favorites.
