As for the dog, well if we actually had a dog I'm sure it would have indeed eaten my homework today....because Emily would have told it to!! :)
Emily has developed quite a fondness for music now and will wiggle her little bottom and stomp and dance to music a lot of the time. She has even begun to sing along, in her own special baby jabber dialect, that includes profuse use the the words Daa Daa at the moment (I'm famous now!!) Below is a photo of Emily getting jiggy on the dance floor with Mom to a Madonna CD. So far we have seen Emily to be particularly attracted to Country Western music, but pop music of any kind seems to get her going really good. Baby Einstein CDs of Mozart....meh... not so much as they make her sleepy. Can't you just see Emily in a little cowgirl hat and boots, singing Kareoke to Shania Twain tunes in a few years?! My head hurts just thinking about it. :)

I remain amazed at how fast Emily is growing up. It seems like just yesterday that she was this little tiny ball of tears in my arms on Gotcha Day (wow.. still get goose bumps from writing that), and now just 6 short months later here she is sitting on her tricycle (below) looking like she is ready to take off. Every day is a new experience with Emily and I love every single one of them.
This last week Emily has started to make short sprints across the carpet. Yeesh, she is still a little wobbly on walking sometimes and yet she wants to be running already. I told Nancy she would be a runner! It is hilarious to watch too. She will stand up, settle her balance, take aim on a target (usually myself or Nancy) and then do a quick sprint of 7-8 steps toward said target. Her goal I guess is to be able to walk faster then she crawls (which has been very fast for some time now). Impatient girl :)
Mail time is always fun time for Emily. When Mom goes to get mail and brings it back in, Emily insists on sitting with mom and sorting through the mail too. She ususally sets her eye on some really colorful catalog too, which Nancy reluctantly surrenders for the sake of peaceful co-exisitence with the Emily and the mail. :) This week, as I recall, it was the ClubMed travel catalog, though as you can see in the photo below, Emily was still pondering her slection choices.

You have probably noticed in this weeks photos that Emily has had another hair cut. She finally has enough hair that we are able to trim her bangs in the classic China cut for girls. She looks really cute (see below). Her grandparents will be so happy too, because they feel this is the only appropriate haircut for a baby girl in China. We only trimmed her bangs this time, letting the rest of her hair grow for a while longer to see what we get. Evenually, it will probably be a neck length cut for a while until Nancy agrees to growing it longer.

Tune in again next week for the latest breaking news in baby events and mishief :)
