April 10, 2007 - Following Up With The Days Events

As I mentioned in my prior post, we had set aside April 10 as a family day and planned to take Emily on a light rail ride across the valley and do some shopping, eating, walking, and whatever other mischief we could find to get into.

Why the light rail? Well, from the very first day when we picked up Emily a year ago in China, we found out that she loved to take rides. Bus rides, taxi rides, whatever moved was good stuff for her. We found out right then that she is 1) impatient, 2) willing to assert her needs and desires 3) has strong opinions. Any time the bus or taxi would stop at a light, Emily would start to kick her legs and push her body forward to try to get the vehicle to move again. It was hilarious to watch. So we thought it would be a good treat to take her on a new ride experience. Here is my little sweetheart riding in the light rail for the first time, and having a blast.





Once we got across town, it was lunch time and so we choose to have Thai food for lunch. No photos of lunch unfortunately as Emily has the fastest hands in town now and things everything on the table is hers to grab, so Dada was too busy keeping the table safe to stop and take photos. :-P I will say that Emily enjoyed some of everything we ordered, Basil Chicken, Pad Thai noodle, soup, and even some Thai vegetable rolls dipped in a spice ginger sauce. But interestingly we found her favorite of the meal to be raw bean sprouts. She love them and likes to gobble them down.

Later is was time for some strolling and fun shopping. Emily and Mommy are taking a brief rest in this next photo near one of the water pools and fountains.


And of course later in the afternoon it was time for the light rail ride home. Emily decided that this was a good time to crash after all the excitement and energy expended earlier in the day. So into Mommy's arms and off to sleep she went.



I would say that we were all tired by the time we got home, and yet Emily got a second wind after the nap and wanted to frolic and play once we got home. That said, she actually went to bed a little earlier then normal in the evening (she normally goes to bed at 8:00) and for once I actually got to wake her up at 7:00 instead of her waking me up with a very persistent and determined "Dada!" from down the hall at around 6:45 each morning. I don't much need the alarm clock anymore. Emily makes sure to let me know when it is time for us all to wake up. So it was kind of fun to be the one to wake baby up in the morning for a change :) She woke up with a smile and giggles, as usual, though so all was good.
