Week of April 1 - Spring Time Is Gardening Time

Spring time is always a fun time for my lovely wife Nancy. She loves to plant fresh flowers in the spring in her garden and this year, Emily makes this a doubly enjoyable time. So of course I was served notice late last week that it would be gardening time over the weekend and that my assistance would be required in support of Mommy and Emily in this new adventure. So naturally this all begins with a trip to the local plant nursery, which will be an all new adventure for Emily. As we can see in this first photo, Emily had Dada (yes another Dada sighting!) firmly in hand in the parking lot and is about to escort him inside so that he does not get into any mischief.

Once inside the nursery, the real adventure begins.

"Hey Mommy! ... can we get some flowers like these? Peeze!"

"Oh!! Oh!! I need some gardening tools too don't I??"

"What about this twee?" (yes that would be tree with a w instead of an r)

Hmmm... these have potential too I think!"

"Huh? What is this box of bamboo doing here?? Clean up on aisle 4 peeeez!"

Weeeellll....It looks like Mommy has made the flower choices. Very good Mommy (two thumbs up) [Emily actually does to the two thumbs up sign and says GOOD!]

So with plants picked out and paid for, we all headed home to begin the actual gardening. This of course was one of Emily's favorite parts of the day. She loves being outside, she loves playing in the grass and dirt, and of course a chance to use some garden tools is a definite plus for Emily as she lends a hand to Mommy in preparing the plant bed.....

It seems like Emily and Mommy were working in the garden for a couple of hours and Emily seemed still energized and wanting to stay in the yard and play even though the clouds rolled in and there was quite a breeze out. Mommy suggested a compromise by encouraging Emily to put on a jacket and then check in on how good a job Dada did in assembling Emily's very own garden chair [Kit was a Christmas present for Emily, courtesy of auntie Gayle]. The new chair was definitely a big hit with Emily as we can see in this next photo (yay Auntie Gayle!).....

Yep yep....Emily very much had fun filled day of plants, flowers, and gardening with Mommy and Dada.

What a great day! I sure wish I had a little helper like Emily to plant my garden -- wait! I do have a little helper now, but there is 5" of snow outside, so we won't be planting anything anytime soon :(

Love the pink Adoirondak chair. Aunt Gayle is SOOOO cool!
