Emily, being quite practiced at it now, can slip Mommy's slippers right on her feet and then take off across the floor on them.....clop... clop...clop. I have my very own little clown girl walking around in big giant clown feet :-) Adorable!
Emily enjoys doing a lot of things, but playing in the family room is indeed one of her ongoing favorites. As with shoes, so it is with boxes. Babies love boxes. So we let Emily have the empty boxes for diaper wipes and diapers as play toys. She loves them, loves to climb on them, loves to move them around the room, loves to stack them.
Most of all Emily loves to move the boxes into the kitchen area so as to be sure to get all under Dada's feet.
Emily continues to develop very well physically and cognitively. She is going through a growth spurt right now and it seems the arms and legs and feet are growing every day. She is into size 5 shoes now and looking like size 6 is not far off (maybe only a few weeks). When I find really cute shoes for her in the store, I always make a point to buy them in several sizes if I can as they will likely not be there next time. With the growth spurt going on, we are starting to break out some of the 24 month clothing now as a few of the 18 month clothes are getting small for Emily. Hard to believe that just a year ago, she was this teeny tiny little baby who barely had size 2 feet and fit in 6 month clothes with room to spare.
On the cognitive development side of things, Emily has great awareness of her surroundings. It is very interesting to note that at the local intersection near where we live, you can ask her which direction is to home and she can point it out no matter which side of the intersection we are in. Also, her grandparents house is very close by and she also knows which direction in the intersection takes you toward grand pa's house. She will even point to home as we drive through the intersection headed somewhere else. She also knows here way around the first block of our housing complex as well, so we really have to watch her as she will head out the open garage door and down the drive without hesitation. Happily we live in a private drive community so there is literally no traffic, but with the way she can move, we really need to keep an eye on her.
Emily continues to develop her vocabulary. Many words, and learning new ones every day. Not at all uncommon for her to immediately mimic new words when she hears them and after one or two times, she will usually associate the word with what it is meant to identify as well. Something though remain fixed in her mind a certain way, like when she wants to go for a swing ride...that is always pronounced with an emphatic "weeeee!!" and profuse finger pointing at the nearest swing.
This weekend we will be taking Emily to a birthday party for the 3 year old son of one of our friends. That will be Emily's first time as a guest at a birthday party. Is should be a real blast too. So check in again next week for the update on Emily's continuing adventures. :)

Shoes...what IS the fascination with shoes? I guess our girls are just learning early. ;)
I'm really impressed with her sense of direction. That's a little awe-inspiring to me, as I have a 16 year old that probably couldn't find his way home from the nearest grocery store (no, he doesn't have his driver's license yet!).
Your little girl is growing up so fast. Kinda scary, isn't it?
