Week of May 6 - This & That

This week I went back into the photo archive from the last month and picked out some photos of Emily that simply did not make the "cut" in my prior weeks posts. Not that they were not great photos, I think they actually are. They just did not fit in with a particular theme I was sharing about the life and adventures of Emily in recent weeks posts.

So in the spirit of playing catchup this week, I have two underlying themes for my Emily adventures for this week: 1) Emily enjoys life and really is fun loving 2) We recycle.

First about recycling. Recycling is very popular these days. For us, as I am sure is true for many parents, children add another dimension to recycling. When we recycle boxes that usually means that we give them to Emily to play with for a period of time before we finally crush them and send them to the recycle bin. As you can see in this first photos, Emily loves boxes, and for her they are things to carry, things to toss, or things to use as steps or seating for whatever she may be up to.

Yes folks, it's true, we go through a lot of baby wipes and so we buy em by the crate at Costco. Emily thinks the empty bulk boxes are fun stuff

The same can be said for diapers. A) we go through a ton of them and we buy them by the crate at Costco, and B) Emily thinks they bulk box makes for a good seat while she is playing with her ABCs phonic toy.


Of course recycling to Emily also means that she gets dibs on the empty gallon water jugs as well (hence the Crystal Geyser bottle in the background of this photo of Emily waist deep in toy land in the family room (as usual). Note that Elmo is never too far away during play time for Emily. Emily thinks Elmo is the bomb too!! She used to call him MoMo, but now it is Elmo as she is a big girl now and can fully pronounce many words and can copy and apply entire phrases when she hears Mommy or Dada talk.


Not that Emily's life is all play. She is quite the book worm too, as I have commented on from time to time. Emily loves books, so we keep them sorted and off to the side of the toy box so she does not lose them down in the bottom of that cavernous box of toys.


Shifting the theme a bit. Emily is obsessed with the clips on her safety belts for her high chair, stroller, car seat, etc., etc. She loves the clips and always wants to help us when we strap her in. It can get to be quite a competition too, particularly the car seat as she is busy with the cross clip while I am locking her lower clip in place. The clips on the safety belt of her high chair a particular obsession with Emily these days. She likes to come by and check and make sure they are clipped shut, and if not, then she takes care of that immediately, as we can see in this next photo. Notice the tip toe action too. :)



In closing this week, let me just add that Mommy's shoes are still very much a big hit for Emily too. In this closing photo from a few weeks ago Emily is ready to go to her grandparents for the day as we head to work, but she has time to take a short walk-a-bout in Mommy's slippers before it is time to go. I will say, she can really clop around in those slippers now, that is something she has to a fine art.
