Emily is getting quite good at self-feeding now days, though Dada still gets pretty controlling about supervising if the food is going to be messy stuff. :-P These first three photos give a good demonstration of Emily's talents with her little silver fork. With a favorite food like "nana" there will be not tossing, or playing with the food going on at all because Emily loves "nana". So we simply cut up the banana into bite sized pieces, put them on a serving tray, hand Emily the fork and then step back. She does really well grabbing pieces of banana with the fork and then munching them down.
Bread on the other hand is another favorite of Emily's but it is very much finger food all the way, and is likely to be something to inspect and pick apart before eating.
Nothing for us to do about bread except stand back and let her enjoy :)
While Emily is very much a bookworm, and especially loves getting her fair share of the catalogs and magazines that come in the mail, I have to say she has taken quite a liking to drawing of late. As most parents know, that can get out of hand really quickly if not somewhat contained. So currently, when Emily wants to draw, we set her up in her high chair with paper and a pencil or crayon and let her have at it. She like a pencil more then crayon, and prefers paper that already has writing on it so she can draw and scribble in the white spaces around the writing. That's a pretty good use of old papers in the house, so we simply pull some from our recycle pile and let Emily for for it.
Emily is moving into 24 month clothing now (she's 22 months old last week), and so we are rotating old/new clothing in the wardrobe once again. I love this little photo of Emily dressed for some outdoor fun with Dada. The cute little pink skorts just now are beginning to fit her and she looks so cute in them. Note: the sweater is not really needed for this outing, but my wife and in-laws are Chinese and insist that baby be dressed warmly at all times. So the sweater saves me getting a lecture from my loving, adorable, but protective wife :-P
Right after I snapped the above photo, Emily said to me, fairly insistently I might add, "outdoor Dada!....peeze!....outdoor!" which is my queue of course to get the stroller and giddy-up so as not to keep my little Princess waiting. Bless her little heart, she is good at making her wants and needs known these days. Have I said that she is not very patient sometimes? Yeah, I'm sure I have :)

Good job on the self-feeding (we still have a ways to go on that front!) and the drawing on paper. Here's a hint for all the mini "masterpieces" she'll be making in the next 10 years or so...keep your absolute favorites (or one example of an artistic genre) and write the date on the back. For the rest of them, the refrigerator or a pantry door makes a good place to display them for a while. Then, when the display is full, place Emily in front of "her" artwork, snap a photo or two, then pitch much of what's there and start again.
I know...it's hard to part with any of them! That's okay, go ahead and keep ALL of them...every piece of paper with a scribble on it. You'll go through them some day and pitch most of them...I'm just trying to save you from storing them for several years!
