It is fascinating to watch my daughter grow and develop. Everyday, something new, and there are days when I am astonished at something new Emily knows how to do, or say.
Like most Children Emily is influenced by what she hears and sees in life around her. Much to my chagrin, I have to be very careful what I say these days, as Emily “sponges” up everything. :-P This very much includes a number of favorite TV programs on Emily’s daily activities.
Emily loves the Super Why series, and even calls herself Super Girl sometimes and asks Daddy to pick her up so she can fly around the room. From personal observation, Emily learns a ton of good stuff from the Super Why series, so I cannot say enough good things about it. Other favorites include Teletubbies, The Goodnight Show, Jay Jay, Bernstien Bears, and Angelina Ballerina.
Angelina Ballerina is particularly influential since it is a nightly pre-bedtime program of her. Angelina Ballerina is what Emily watches, while she drinks her milk before going to bed. This is in fact where Emily picked up her preference for calling Nancy “Mum”, complete with English accent.
On any given day, Emily may have a preference for Mamma, or Mommy, or Mom, or Mum. Nancy answers equally well to each. :-) Nancy has a soft spot in her heart for all things English, so being called Mum by Emily always results in warm fuzzys for Nancy.
And with that, a bit of nostalgia in the photo category in this weeks story:
Emily & Nancy holding one another the day after we adopted her in China, many many months ago.
